• Human health:

The French-Canadian innovation project Neurophenols aims to develop a range of food products, containing fruit extracts, contributing to the prevention of cognitive decline. The main objective of the project is therefore to develop dietary compounds rich in synergistic polyphenols, formulated and differentiated - in particular by the use of eco-processes - having a beneficial role on human cognitive decline.

  • Another application possible: pets

Senior pets (dogs, cats) are facing the same problems as human. With age, they suffer from cognitive impairment, characterized by a tendency to sleep more or to act more slowly. Also, the animals over 7 years represent a growing population. For example, senior dogs accounted for 30 to 40% of the world canine population in 2008, i.e. 35 to 45 million of dogs (Source: Euromonitor). Masters are more and more concerned about the well-being of their four-leg companions who need specifically formulated products.

The compounds developed in the Neurophenols project will therefore enter into the composition of pet food and thereby improve the remaining years of our pets. In this purpose, SPF-Diana group, producer of ingredients for pets, and the national veterinary school of Nantes, Oniris, are associated in the project.
