Saffron has shown beneficial aphrodisiac effects in human studies. Crocins are the main saffron metabolites involved in sexual function mechanisms. Our saffron extract offers the richest concentration of crocins (> 5%).
The aphrodisiac power of saffron has been known for centuries. In Ancient Egypt Cleopatra was said to use saffron in her bath for its aphrodisiac effects before seeing a suitor.
A randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study has evaluated the benefits of saffron on women subjected to sexual dysfunction. After 4 weeks of supplementation a saffron extract standardized in crocins significantly restored female sexual function compared to placebo, being particularly effective on the criteria of arousal, lubrification, and pain.
